FishHound day trips take place in Willow, Alaska - a scenic hour and fifteen minute drive north of Anchorage on the tributaries of the Susitna River system. No bush plane needed. It's the closest consistent guided fishing location to Anchorage.
About 1 hour and 15 minutes north of Anchorage via the Parks Highway. Willow, AK is where our road system day trips depart from, making it an easy same-day trip for visitors staying in or near Anchorage.
Depending on the time of year you can target all five species of Pacific salmon - king, sockeye, coho, pink, and chum - as well as rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, and Dolly Varden. FishHound guides know exactly when and where each species is running.
No experience required. FishHound welcomes anglers of all skill levels, from first-timers to seasoned fly fishers. Guides provide hands-on instruction and all gear is included at no extra charge - waders, boots, rods, reels, line, and flies.
